NEW TO OUR WEBSITE (March '07) The Parents' Post Box is provided for all parents or guardians of children at our school. We welcome any comments and suggestions about our school and we will use this page for messages we receive via the guestbook
We hope parents have noticed the changes to the website to include some of your ideas. The class pages now include equipment lists and the curriculum topics covered during the year. Coming soon will be a timetable showing which days PE kit needs to be brought in . On our home page we now have a Week ahead alert as well as recent important news notifications. Our Letters and Documents page now inlcudes a parental consent form for trips as well as recent school letters. These ideas are great to receive and help improve the website and make it as useful and informative as possible for current and prospective parents......so keep those ideas coming!

Thank you Mrs Watling for bringing this to our attention, we are looking at what went wrong with the cascade system and ensure that we get it right next time. Your idea for starting at the bottom and top is good. The system does work, but relies on the parents to call the next person and ensure their home details are up todate.

Just a suggestion following today’s postponed year 5 trip to
Mrs Baldwin 11th August 2007
I also have another request to be added to the class pages - please could the teachers add which days of the week each class does PE, especially outdoor games for the juniors, so that we can remind the children to take their trainers and tracksuits into school? Thank you

I have finally got round to looking at the expanded website and I particularly like the calendar and the class pages. Perhaps things like the equipment list on Mrs Brown's end of term letter could also be shown on the relevant class pages, so that we don't have to search back through the letters to find it.
Perhaps a 'What's on this week' list could be added to the home page, so that parents could log on at the weekend and remind themselves of events that are coming up in the next few days. Also, linked into the calendar, details of some trips could be added now, eg for class 4, the estimated cost of Woodrow would help some families to budget over a longer period, and a down-loadable health form would save a lot of photocopying!
I particularly like Mrs Taylor's notes on the Class 2 page, below the chart of subjects covered, and would like to encourage other teachers to follow suit. This could be turned into a short termly newsletter - eg for class 1, the history of toys could include a request for any old toys to be brought in, etc.
I have a feeling that this year I will become quite dependent on the website to find out what's happening in school, and I would encourage the PTA to expand the use of their page too - they have done an awful lot since the Mothers' day craft event, but none of it is on their page! Did anyone take any photos of the bbq and auction? They could also put fundraising and expenditure updates there as well.
All in all, I think the improvements are excellent, and well done to Mrs Penniston for all her hard work. I look forward to finding out all about the new school year via the website!
Thank you so much for some really good ideas for improving the website. I am sure we will be incorporating some into the website over the next few weeks. Keep the ideas coming!
Mrs Sheppard-26/3/2007
Fantastic to see the site developing so quickly - great work Mrs Penniston!! As a parent I have a couple of suggestions (which we spoke about at the last PTA meeting): Firstly to have a "wish list" of items, small and large, for each class. For example - do any classes need art materials, volunteers for after school clubs, items for the classroom? As parents it would be great to be able to "check in" and see what the latest needs are (and to know when you have got enough old cereal boxes too!) Secondly, if school notices were posted on the site, it would provide a back-up for those "lost" letters that never make it home ... As I said, this was discussed at the PTA meeting, so it may well be in hand. Just wanted to use the post-box facility!! Keep up the good work - Molly is very proud of her ever-changing school site!
Thank you to Mrs Sheppard for our first posting in the Parent's Post Box. The wish lists sounds a great idea, we'll discuss it with the teachers and perhaps add it to the class pages. We are working on placing more letters and documents on the site. After Easter, Class 5 parents will be piloting a new emailing scheme for letters from the school. We'll let you know how it goes!
