Welcome to Year 2
A warm welcome to everyone in Year 2. I am really looking forward to teaching your children and working together with parents and guardians to support the children’s learning.
Year 2 is a busy year and although we work hard, we have fun too!
We will continue to extend concepts met in Year 1 and will revisit some of these to consolidate and prepare the children for the next steps in their learning.
Spellings are set on Mondays and your support is appreciated in helping your child to learn these for a review on Fridays.
Guided group reading takes place in school and individual reading books are changed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as appropriate. The children need to bring their reading book every day because they may be heard read at school on any day, depending on the number of reading volunteers.
During Year 2 we will encourage the children to become more independent. This includes remembering to take spelling and reading books home, emptying their book bags, handing in letters and remembering to bring in any items asked for in connection with class activities.
If you have any questions about Year 2, please do not hesitate to ask me.
Kind regards
Mrs Barbara Taylor
