5/11/09 Reception Class Jan 2010
2nd November 2009
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for returning the form accepting the place offered for your child at
Two introductory sessions have been arranged, towards the end of this term. We have found, from experience that generally children settle far more easily when they know and are comfortable in their surroundings. The dates of the two sessions are: Wednesday 18th November and Wednesday 2nd December from 1.30pm to 2.45pm. We would like to invite you, during this time, to a New Parents Induction afternoon on Wednesday 18th November and to meet other Reception parents over a cup of tea on Wednesday 2nd December.
During the first week of term, Tuesday 5th January 2010, please could you bring your child through the school gate to the new Reception play area at 8.45am where the class teacher will meet you. Thereafter the school gate is opened at 8.30 and the bell rings for the morning session at 8.55 at which time the gate is locked. During the first few days, you may accompany your child into the Reception class playground, if this makes him/her more at ease. However, we do find that children settle more quickly without “Mum” or “Dad” accompanying them into the classroom. Please ensure that you leave the playground by 8.55. For the first half term, your child will stay at school over the lunch period, eating his/her “packed lunch” and then play with other children in the playgrounds. Your child should then be collected at 1:15pm from the school gate.
After half term (22nd February 2010), your child will stay for the full day finishing at 3.15pm and should be collected from the playground. Please wait by the Reception class gate and the teacher will bring your child to you.
Please find enclosed a list of holiday dates, together with a school uniform list. Cardigans, sweatshirt, ties and caps are available from the school office. We do also have a “new to you” collection of uniform which is manned by a volunteer Mum. Please ask at the office for details. An application form is also enclosed for you to complete and return to us.
We hope that all these arrangements will be convenient for you and look forward to seeing you on the above dates. In the meantime, if you have any concerns relating to your child joining us, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. Carol Brown
Head teacher
